Our house is infested with large but sluggish bees. The bees have come inside for shelter and are dormant most of the time, perhaps hiding in crannies where we cannot see them. But when a heater is turned on in a room, the bees seem to wake up and fly or crawl around somewhat drunkenly. The cold has made them lethargic, but the house is never warm enough to liven them up entirely — they are unable to sting and often cannot even fly. This makes a wonderful playtime or exercise activity for the animals in the house. Molly enjoys knocking the bees to the ground as they feebly attempt to escape by air. Her aim is quite good, and she is sadistically gleeful as she tortures the insects. Lucy grabs bees and bites them in half.
