Molly sat on the bed and watched me carefully as I took off my glasses and cleaned them. She appeared so enthralled and confused that I felt I had to explain my actions. I said, “Molly, when humans have dirty glasses, they wipe them off with a t-shirt. This makes it easier to see.”

Then she followed me over to the front door, where she again watched me with interest as I put my shoes on. I told her, “Molly, when humans are preparing to go outside, they put shoes on to protect their feet.”

She seemed satisfied with these explanations. I was glad to help.
